TREE FELLING AND SAFE REMOVAL
Tree felling involves removing a tree from its base in a controlled and planned manner. At Stara Tree Contractors, we assess the tree's size, lean, structural condition, and surrounding hazards to determine the safest direction of fall. Using precise notches and backcuts, we guide the tree down safely. This service is commonly required for dead, diseased, storm-damaged, or unsafe trees, as well as for land clearance or construction projects across West Yorkshire. CROWN REDUCTION AND CROWN THINNING
Crown reduction decreases the overall height or spread of a tree while maintaining its natural shape and stability. Crown thinning selectively removes smaller branches to reduce canopy density without altering size. Both techniques improve light penetration, airflow, and wind resistance while supporting healthy structure. We remove no more than 15 to 30 percent of the crown at one time to prevent stress and promote balanced regrowth.
CROWN LIFTING AND POLLARDING
Crown lifting removes lower branches to increase ground clearance, improving access, visibility, and light beneath the tree while preserving overall form. Pollarding is a structured pruning method where upper branches are cut back to a set height to control size and encourage dense regrowth. Both methods are carefully timed and executed to maintain tree health, safety, and long-term structural integrity.
HEDGE TRIMMING AND ONGOING MAINTENANCE
We provide professional hedge trimming to shape, refine, and manage overgrowth with clean, precise cuts. Well-maintained hedges enhance privacy, improve visibility, and define boundaries. Our approach encourages dense, healthy growth while achieving the style and structure you prefer. At Stara Tree Contractors, we also specialise in tree and stump removal, offering complete site clearance solutions that leave your outdoor space safe, tidy, and ready for its next use.
